Show us what "Going Beyond" means to you. The photos could reflect how you move forward, overcome boundaries, strengthen community bonds, pursue new possibilities, or contribute to a better future!

Terms and Conditions

 

1. Organiser

 

  • The “Majulah Singapura, Go Beyond” Photo Contest (“Contest”) is organised by Marine Parade-Braddell Heights Town Council (“Town Council”).
  • By participating in the Contest, each participant confirms that they have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms and Conditions.

2. Contest period

 

  • The Contest opens on 31 August 2026 and closes on 14 September 2026 (“Submission Period”).
  • Entries received after the Submission Period will not be accepted.
  • The Town Council’s records will be final and conclusive in determining whether an entry was received within the Submission Period.

 

3. Eligibility

 

  • The Contest is open only to residents currently residing in an HDB residential property located within Marine Parade-Braddell Heights Town.
  • Participants below 18 years of age must obtain the consent of a parent or legal guardian before entering the Contest. The Town Council may request proof of such consent.
  • The Town Council may request proof of identity, age, and residential address. Failure to provide satisfactory proof may result in disqualification.
  • No purchase or payment is required to participate.

 

4. Contest theme

 

  • Each photograph must respond to the theme: “Majulah Singapura, Go Beyond”
  • Photographs should reflect what it means for Singapore, the Marine Parade-Braddell Heights community, or its residents to move forward, overcome boundaries, strengthen community bonds, pursue new possibilities, or contribute to a better future.

 

5. How to enter

 

  • To enter, a participant must, during the Submission Period:

 

a) submit one original photograph through the online submission form (https://forms.gle/Vo5aK67MiXhYRiva8) or prdept@mbtc.org.sg ;
b) provide their full name, contact number, email address, and residential address;
c) provide a title for the photograph; and
d) include a caption of no more than 100 words explaining how the photograph relates to the theme.
 

  • Each eligible resident may submit a maximum of three (3) photographs.
  • Photographs must be submitted in JPEG or PNG format, with a maximum file size of 10 MB per photograph.
  • Incomplete, illegible, corrupted, inaccessible, or incorrectly submitted entries may be rejected.

 

6. Photograph requirements

 

  • Each photograph must:

 

a) be an original photograph taken by the participant;
b) relate clearly to the Contest theme;
c) be suitable for public viewing;
d) comply with all applicable laws; and
e) not have previously won another photography contest.
 

  • Basic editing—such as cropping and reasonable adjustments to brightness, exposure, colour, contrast and sharpness—is permitted, provided that the photograph does not materially misrepresent the scene.
  • Fully AI-generated images are not permitted. Generative AI must not be used to add, remove or replace material elements in a photograph.
  • The Town Council may request the original, unedited photograph or its metadata for verification.
  • An entry must not:

 

a) contain obscene, offensive, hateful, defamatory, discriminatory, violent or otherwise inappropriate material;
b) promote unlawful or dangerous activity;
c) infringe any copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity or other right belonging to another person
d) contain unauthorised advertising, political campaigning or commercial endorsements;
e) include confidential or sensitive personal information; or
f) bring Singapore, the Town Council or any other person or organisation into disrepute.

 

  • The Town Council may reject or remove any entry that it considers unsuitable or inconsistent with these Terms and Conditions.

 

7. Consent and permissions

 

  • Participants are responsible for obtaining all permissions necessary to photograph and submit images of identifiable individuals, private property, artworks or other protected subject matter.
  • Where an identifiable individual appears prominently in a photograph, the participant must have that individual’s consent to the photograph’s submission and publication.
  • If an identifiable individual is below 18 years of age, consent must be obtained from the individual’s parent or legal guardian.
  • The participant must provide evidence of any required consent or permission if requested by the Town Council.

 

8. Selection of the top 10 finalists

 

  • Following the close of the Submission Period, the Town Council will shortlist 10 photographs (“Finalists”) for the final judging and public-voting stage.
  • Shortlisting may be based on:

 

a) relevance to the theme;
b) creativity and originality;
c) visual impact and storytelling;
d) technical quality; and
e) compliance with these Terms and Conditions.

  • The Town Council’s decision on the selection of the Finalists is final. No correspondence regarding the shortlisting process will be entertained.

 

9. Publication and public voting

 

  • The 10 Finalist photographs will be published on the Town Council’s official Facebook and Instagram accounts for public voting.
  • Public voting will take place from 21 September 2026 to 28 September 2026 (“Voting Period”).
  • Public voting will account for 50% of each Finalist’s overall score.
  • The public-voting score will be based on the total number of valid likes, comments and shares received by each Finalist’s official Contest posts on the Town Council’s Facebook and Instagram accounts during the Voting Period.
  • For the purposes of calculating the public-voting score:

a) only interactions appearing on the original posts published by the Town Council will be counted;
b) interactions received before or after the Voting Period will not be counted;
c) duplicate, irrelevant, offensive, automated, purchased or otherwise suspicious interactions may be disregarded; and
d) interactions that are private, inaccessible or not measurable through the relevant social-media platform may not be counted.
 

  • The Town Council may determine the method used to normalise or convert valid social-media interactions into a score out of 50. That method will be applied consistently to all Finalists.
  •  Participants must not purchase, automate, exchange or otherwise artificially generate likes, comments or shares. Participants must also not offer payments, prizes or other benefits in return for votes.
  • The Town Council may disqualify a Finalist or exclude suspicious interactions where it reasonably believes that the public-voting process has been manipulated.
  • Facebook and Instagram are not sponsors or administrators of, and are not associated with, the Contest. Participants release Meta Platforms, Inc. and its related entities from responsibility for the Contest to the extent permitted by law.

 

10. Judging panel

 

  • Scores awarded by a judging panel appointed by the Town Council will account for the remaining 50% of each Finalist’s overall score.
  • The judging panel will assess the Finalist photographs based on criteria including:

 

a) relevance to the theme;
b) creativity and originality;
c) visual impact and storytelling; and
d) technical quality.
 

  • Each Finalist’s overall score will be calculated as follows:

 

  • Public-voting score: 50%
  • Judging panel’s score: 50%

 

  • The three Finalists with the highest overall scores will be selected as the winners.
  • If two or more Finalists receive the same overall score, the Finalist with the higher judging panel score will be ranked higher. If the judging panel scores are also equal, the judging panel will decide the final ranking based on relevance to the Contest theme.
  • All decisions of the Town Council and judging panel are final. No correspondence concerning the scores, judging or results will be entertained.

 

11. Winners and prizes

 

  • Three (3) winning photographs will be selected.
  • Each winner will receive one S$100 e-CapitaVoucher.
  • Each participant may win a maximum of one prize.
  • Winners will be notified through the contact details provided with their entries and may be announced on the Town Council’s website and social media accounts.
  • A potential winner must respond within 5 working days of being contacted and provide any verification requested by the Town Council. Failure to respond or provide satisfactory verification may result in disqualification and the selection of another winner.
  • Prizes are non-transferable, non-exchangeable and not redeemable for cash.
  • The use of an e-CapitaVoucher is subject to the issuer’s applicable terms, validity period and participating-merchant requirements. The Town Council will not replace an expired, lost, deleted, stolen, or incorrectly redeemed voucher.
  • The Town Council may replace a prize with another prize of reasonably equivalent value if circumstances beyond its control make this necessary.

 

12. Copyright and permitted use

 

  • Participants retain copyright in their photographs.
  • By submitting an entry, each participant grants the Town Council a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to reproduce, publish, display, crop, resize, format, caption and otherwise use the photograph and its accompanying materials for:

 

a) administering and promoting the Contest;
b) conducting public voting;
c) announcing and showcasing the Finalists and winners;
d) Town Council, National Day and community-engagement communications;
e) the Town Council’s website, social-media accounts, newsletters, exhibitions and publicity materials; and
f) archival and reporting purposes.

 

  • This licence takes effect upon submission and continues for [five years/another stated period]. Materials already published or produced during that period may remain in the Town Council’s archives and on its social-media accounts.
  • The Town Council will use reasonable efforts to credit the photographer where practicable. An inadvertent failure to provide a credit will not constitute a breach of these Terms and Conditions.
  • The Town Council will not sell a participant’s photograph as a standalone commercial product without obtaining separate permission.

 

13. Participant declarations

 

  • Each participant represents and warrants that:

 

a) they satisfy all eligibility requirements;
b) their entry is original, and they own all necessary rights in it;
c) the information submitted is complete and accurate;
d) all necessary permissions and consents have been obtained; and
e) the Town Council’s permitted use of the entry will not infringe another person’s rights.

 

  • A participant must promptly inform the Town Council if any submitted information or declaration becomes inaccurate.

 

14. Personal data

 

  • The Town Council may collect, use and disclose participants’ personal data for purposes connected with:

 

a) administering, assessing and publicising the Contest;
b) verifying participants’ identity, eligibility and residential address;
c) contacting Finalists and winners;
d) issuing prizes; and
e) meeting legal, regulatory, audit and record-keeping requirements.

 

  • The names, photographs, captions and, where separately provided or recorded, images of the Finalists and winners may be published in connection with the Contest.
  • Participants’ full residential addresses and private contact details will not be published as part of the public-voting process.
  • Personal data will be handled in accordance with applicable Singapore data-protection laws and the Town Council’s privacy policy at www.mbtc.org.sg.

 

15. Disqualification

 

  • The Town Council may disqualify any participant or entry that:

 

a) breaches these Terms and Conditions;
b) includes false, misleading or incomplete information;
c) infringes another person’s rights;
d) manipulates or attempts to manipulate the submission, voting or judging process;
e) is connected with fraud or misconduct; or
f) may adversely affect the integrity or reputation of the Contest or Town Council.

 

  • If a winner is disqualified, the Town Council may require the prize to be returned or cancelled and may select the next highest-ranked eligible Finalist.

 

16. Changes or cancellation

 

  • The Town Council may amend, suspend, postpone or cancel the Contest if circumstances beyond its reasonable control make this necessary.
  • Any material change will be announced through the Town Council’s official communication channels.

 

17. Liability

 

  • To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Town Council will not be responsible for:

 

a) lost, delayed, corrupted, incomplete or misdirected entries;
b) failures of any website, network, device or social-media platform;
c) inaccurate, delayed or unavailable social-media interaction counts;
d) unauthorised access to or use of an entry; or
e) loss or damage arising from participation in the Contest or acceptance and use of a prize.

 

  • Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

 

18. Governing law

 

  • These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Singapore.
  • Participants submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Singapore in relation to any dispute arising from or connected with the Contest.
